"Shipped wet" means that your seawater desalination RO membrane (SP-SW2521, SP-SW2540, SP-SW4040, SP-SW8040) has been tested to industry standards and then preserved at the manufacturing facility to protect the membrane for shipping and future use. That preservative is in the membrane. The packaging will be air tight but will not be wet.

[Internal notes and additional information for customers]

Seawater membranes are engineered for very high salt rejection and designed to handle the higher pressures necessarily to effectively desalinate water. They are tested to ensure they meet the strict performance needs of their highly specialized applications.

After testing, our seawater desalination membranes are shipped moist to maintain their permeability and performance and ability to operate properly. It's a food-grade preservative in the membrane (not the packaging) to prevent biological growth during storage. Avoid contact and flush the RO membrane before use.

As a result of the membrane preservation solution, seawater membranes have a shelf life of one year from the manufacturing date printed on the package.

In the event a seawater desalination membrane freezes during shipping, it is advised to let the membrane thaw slowly before use.
