Under normal water conditions, 68°F to 86°F (20-30°C) is the optimal operating temperature range for SpiroPure RO membranes. Typically, customers should not exceed 113°F (45°C).
Temperature effects on performance outside of optimal range:
- Lower temperatures reduce water production rate by approximately 1-1.7% per degree Fahrenheit below the optimal range (2-3% per degree Celsius)
- Higher temperatures decrease filtration performance in both acidic or alkaline environments, though the reduction varies based on water chemistry
Examples: At 60°F, a customer can expect approximately 9-14% lower water production compared to operation at 68°F. Production could decrease by up to one-third (or more) at 50°F. The actual decrease will vary based on membrane size, configuration, and input water quality.
Note: In acidic or alkaline environments, higher water temperatures cause more pronounced decreases in desalination rates.
